On Thursday evening, 19 November, SNAP friends had a gratitude activity in preparation for Thanksgiving. We colored pages and finger puppets appropriate to the holiday and wrote what we are grateful for on leaves with which we decorated a gratitude tree. We played a game where, when the ball was rolled or thrown to us, we said what we were grateful for, what we liked to eat most on Thanksgiving, and what we thought we might get for Christmas. And a game called Go Turkey Go (a Thanksgiving version of Red Light Green Light) was very entertaining.
Getting started -- the gratitude tree had no leaves
Those scissors are pretty and we are ready to color
Choose something to color
Sister Burns and Sister Santiago are interested
Happy Thanksgiving
Excitement is contagious
Snip, snip, snip
Brother Welsh is interested, too
Brother Taylor, take my picture
This table is ready for us to make gratitude leaves
Sometimes Brother Welsh likes to joke
Write something on the leaves so we can hang them on the tree
Yeah, like that
Lots to be grateful for
Some things we are grateful for are delicious...
Like egg rolls
I'm done with my leaves and I'm just going to finish coloring my page
Hanging the leaves...
Made the tree look good
One more leaf
Now tell us what you are grateful for
When you are through, throw it to someone else
Get ready, I'm gonna throw it
Good throw -- good catch
My turn
Go Turkey Go
I saw you moving -- back to the line
Watch out for sneaky SNAPers
I'll just take the plate and run
Making a big move
Stop!
The famous Spode dinnerware company from England made our paper turkey plate
Sister Leishman wrapped up our evening
We all had a great time and are glad so many of our friends came to enjoy it. Thanks to everyone who made it happen.
